Under the gentle Ugandan night sky, surrounded by the warm, dancing glow of flames, we gathered for our very first campfire experience. We gave it a theme that spoke to the deepest parts of our journey: “No Longer a Slave to Fear.” This was more than just a night of songs and stories—it was a sacred moment of release, reflection, and rediscovery.

The Fears We Carry

Many of us arrived carrying silent burdens—the fear of failure, the sting of rejection, the ache of loss, or the hesitation of stepping into our God-given calling. These are fears that can isolate us, making us feel trapped in our own stories of pain.

But as we sat together around the fire, a shift began to happen. Voices rose in heartfelt worship, barriers fell, and hearts opened to one another. In that circle of light, God’s presence was undeniable, reminding us of a powerful and liberating truth from Romans 8:15: we are no longer slaves to fear, for we are children of God.

Choosing Faith, Together

This campfire was born from a shared understanding. So many of us at Honeybee Ministries have walked through seasons of deep pain, uncertainty, and moments where fear tried to define our lives. But that night, we made a collective choice. Together, we declared freedom. Together, we chose faith over fear. Together, we found the courage to believe that we can rise again.

Each spark that drifted up from the fire felt like a prayer being lifted, a burden being released, and a step being taken toward healing. It was a beautiful, visual reminder of our shared journey.

This evening marked the beginning of many more gatherings where faith and restoration will meet—where hearts can be honest, spirits can be renewed, and God’s light will always burn brighter than our fears.
